Careers at DCI

Join a team dedicated to providing students with a world-class education.

We are committed to making the International Baccalaureate program accessible to ALL students, ensuring everyone has access to a world-class education.

DCI is the most racially, socioeconomically, and linguistically diverse school in DC. We aim to be a thriving multicultural community serving students from every ward in the city.

Every student at DCI learns Spanish, French or Chinese. Through the IB program, we provide an internationally focused education to our students.

COMPENSATION: We believe that our work is critical to support and empower our students, and also to improve our broader community in DC and across the world. We think educators should be even more valued in our society both with respect and with additional compensation. Review DCI’s Compensation and Pay Scale Philosophy.

HEALTH, DENTAL, AND VISION BENEFITS: Health, Vision & Dental Insurance are offered to DCI employees with 99% of base level enrollment fees for the employee to be paid by DCI. We currently have an Open Access Plus HMO and an Open Access Plus High Option (“OAP High” or “PPO”).  The HMO plan is fully covered for all employees, and the OAP High plan is offered to all employees at an additional cost.

DISABILITY AND LIFE INSURANCE: DCI offers Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD), and Life Insurance to be paid in full by DCI.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: DCI’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) includes mental health benefits, discounts on health products and programs, as well as discounts on travel, entertainment, electronics, and more!

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: DCI employees are eligible to participate in commuter benefits, paid leave, and tuition reimbursement. All employees receive a laptop computer and have the option to contribute to a 401k retirement plan.

INSTRUCTIONAL COACHING: We believe that instructional coaching can be a transformative process for educators and is key to ensuring that staff are thriving and students are learning. Every teacher is assigned an instructional coach to support their ongoing development.

NETWORK AND SCHOOL PD: Fridays follow an early-release schedule for students, allowing for protected time for professional development. This time is used for network-wide instructional and social-emotional learning professional development, content team planning meetings, and school- or grade-level meetings.

CONTENT TEAM PLANNING MEETINGS: Content teams have protected time to plan together, review student data, and focus on team priorities. These meetings are led by Subject Coordinators, teacher leaders with reduced teaching schedules to allow them to focus on content-team priorities.

SCHOOL-FUNDED EXTERNAL PD AND IB TRAINING: Teachers, in coordination with their instructional coach, are able to sign-up for school-funded external professional developments, such as attending workshops, conferences, and IB training.
