The community service requirement seeks to empower students to make a positive impact on their communities, while gaining transferable skills that will benefit them in their education and career endeavors. To receive a DC diploma, all students are required to perform (100) hours of community service. To stay on track for graduation, students should complete at least 25 hours each year.
The DCI Community Service Hours Form should be completed after a student has served with a 501(c)(3) organization or federal, state, or local agency. Activities where students receive payment are not accepted. A tax ID number must be provided and the form must be signed by an individual at the organization who supervised the service. Service hours forms are available in the College Counseling Suite (2B28).
Not sure if your site meets the 501(c)(3) requirement? Search GuideStar for the name of your site.
Forms should be submitted to the student’s grade-level counselor for hours to be recorded and tracked. It is recommended that students and families keep copies of all forms for their records. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your counselor
