I am so happy to be joining the DCI Student Support team! As a DMV resident who has lived and worked in public and public charter schools throughout the area, I know that this new transition will be exciting and spark growth for me. I grew up in a rural community in Maryland before going to Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. There I studied History and Secondary Education. While there I founded the future educators club at Morehouse and worked closely with the Education Department at Spelman College. Upon graduating I immediately went to Teachers College of Columbia University in New York, New York. There I studied Applied Behavioral Analysis and History of Education. It was just a year later when I returned to Montgomery County Public Schools has a 6th and 7th grade Social Studies Teacher. After MCPS I bounced around the world teaching various subjects in various cities. New York, Washington DC, and London among them. Eventually I went back to school at Johns Hopkins to join the initial cohort of the School Counseling Fellows Program. After completing the program I began working as a Evening School Counselor at SEED School of Maryland. I transitioned into a more traditional counseling role when I returned to Washington DC with Friendship Public Charter Schools. Ultimately leading to me joining the wonderfully talented counseling team at DCI.
