This will be my third year as Assistant Principal at DCI. I came to DCI after directing the Higher Achievement program at Kelly Miller Middle School, in Ward 7. I have a BA in history from Barnard College (Columbia University) and an MA in history from Yale University. I began my career teaching 7th and 8th grade history and activism at the Manhattan Country School (in NYC), during which time I was named “Rising Star Independent Middle School Teacher” by the Blackboard Awards. I moved to DC in 2010 to work as the Assistant Director of B’Tselem USA, an Israeli human rights organization. I also served as the board chair of The Next Step PCS, a GED charter school.
I am committed to issues of social justice and educational equity. I am thrilled to be a part of the DCI community, where these issues are prioritized. I am also a lifelong language learner – Hebrew, Spanish, Arabic and a little French. I love to travel, especially if I can put some of my language learning to use! In my free time, I love to run with my trusty doggie sidekick, Otis.
