Special Education Teacher and English Language Learner Specialist
Ciao! I am a DC native and graduated from Wilson High School. I have been working in education for over nine years. My first experience was in Detroit public schools teaching reading and writing, then in DC public charter schools teaching Special Education and ESL students. Following my time in the USA, I taught an IB curriculum in Japan for ESL and EFL students in high school. I earned a BA in Psychology from University of Michigan, a Masters of Education from George Mason University, and a Masters in TESOL from Temple University. As a former Special Education student, I am very passionate about helping students become successful.
I believe that with teacher dedication any student can succeed. I love the DCI educational model and am excited about teaching students from various language backgrounds. I speak Japanese, English, and some Italian. I am now learning Spanish and Chinese.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy painting, gardening, fixing electronics, and cleaning.
