Happy day! As a special educator at DCI my focus is on functional real life academics that promote independence, communication, and community. I hold a Masters in Special Education and Bachelors in Psychology from Mary Washington. Prior to DCI, I lived in Zambia for 3 years teaching students with intellectual disabilities and training educators and parents in special education practices, that they could apply in their daily life. In addition, I have had many years of experiences in the public school special education system in Virginia. Because I was born in Germany and lived internationally for many years, I experienced the importance of continuously learning from others. Every person and student is an individual with individual strengths and passions. My goal is to learn the strengths and passion of my students and integrate them into daily learning.
