I am from North Carolina and I am so excited to join the team at DCI! I studied English at Appalachian State University for my undergraduate studies. Then during my graduate studies, I focused significantly on social justice and higher education-oriented courses. I also wrote my thesis on the disparities of Latinx immigration into the United States. I believe my educational experiences benefit me by giving me insight into the educational inequalities, social justice, and tools needed to better serve students. I am eager and ready to serve the students of DCI!
I believe that the ELA classroom is more than a place to learn English based standards. It’s a place for students to learn how to become lifelong learners and citizens that are going to make positive change in the world. It’s our duty to equip them with the tools and prepare them for life after middle and high school.
