My College & Career Counseling career began twelve years ago when my daughter was a high school senior and I had to help her with her college admissions and financial aid applications. I absolutely LOVED it, so I worked at her charter school as a substitute teacher, as the Counseling Assistant, and then created the Office of College & Career Services, serving as its Director until the school closed in 2018. I then spent time as a College & Career Coordinator at a DC Public High School before finding my way back to the charter school system and to DCI, where my more student-centered approach is a good fit! I am happy when I've helped my students be happy - reaching their goals and realizing their dreams! I have attended UDC, Howard University, Stanford and UCLA, earning credentials in Mortuary Science (my first career), English, and College Counseling, as well as an MBA in General Management and Entrepreneurship. Originally from Gary, Indiana, I have lived in DC long enough to call it home, as my husband, two daughters and two sons do. In my scant spare time, I like to: volunteer; perform genealogical research; read, write and edit; take classes for personal and professional development, and to learn new career skills; watch anime and classic movies; dance, listen to music, whistle, and sing; bowl; eat; and play games with my family.
