Originally from Columbus, MS, I moved to Texas after graduating from Mississippi State University and began my teaching career. I spent twelve years there teaching English, reading, and test preparation at the high school level before moving to D.C. for graduate school. While earning a degree in Education Policy Studies at George Washington University, I joined the Adult Education Department in ACPS and thoroughly enjoyed assisting both adults and non-traditional high school students prepare for the GED tests. As a teacher, I love building positive relationships with students and helping self-proclaimed “non-readers” find the right book. When I’m not teaching, I love to travel, read, attend Broadway shows, and re-watch Madam Secretary. Incorporating both my students’ and my interests into our classroom work is one of my favorite challenges as an educator. I’m so excited about the upcoming year at DC International and can’t wait to see all my students can accomplish!
