I am thrilled to have joined the DCI community of people passionate about helping students thrive in the global world. I was born in Poland where I graduated from the University of Silesia with a B.A. in Education and an M.A. in English, with a concentration in American Literature and a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language. For over eight years I have been teaching English, English as a Second Language, and Social Studies in Poland and in the U.S. I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. My passion and mission in life has been to help young people feel confident and empowered to take risks, feel comfortable if they stumble, and have all the tools necessary to succeed. I believe education must be relevant and applicable in the “real world”; therefore, I always design my lessons with my students’ needs at the center. Both my career in Poland and the experience as an educator in the United States focused mostly on designing and implementing rigorous, accelerated programs in middle school and high school environment, but I have also lectured English as a Second Language at a college level. Last two years I had a pleasure of teaching 5th through 8th grade English and providing ESL support at Global Scholars Academy in Durham, NC. In my leisure time, I love reading, travelling, and staying active. I am an avid volleyball player, and I am happy to be given a chance to coach it at DCI this year. The great adventure of the new school year has started, and I am excited to embark on it with our amazing students and in such an excellent company!
