Justin LaRocque

SPED Teacher

Greetings! I hold a B.A. in Art Education Pre K-12 and an M.S.in Special Education; Cross Endorsement K -12 from Central Connecticut State University. Prior to joining the DCI family in 2015, I taught for Connecticut’s Department of Children and Families (DCF) for a little over 10 years at three campuses; each providing specific services for students grades K-12. I relocated from CT to Houston, TX where I taught grades 5-8; ELA, Reading, and Integrated Art at The Harris School with my behavior support specialist, Benson Laoshi, who is also an integral member of the DCI Family. I have taught a variety of subjects over the course of 16+ years, and through those experiences, I discovered an opportunity to become more engaged with my student’s learning, social, emotional and behavioral strengths and needs. My passions in education are deeply rooted in positive behavior intervention strategies, evidence-based practices, multi-sensory learning, social skills, executive functioning, and building on specific learning styles and strategies that promote and facilitate student learning and growth. I am excited to continue to be a part of a team of professionals that is dedicated to our students and families, that embraces the IB mindset.
