Jennifer Washington

Special Education Teacher

Hello, Hola! 你好, Bonjour! My name is Jennifer Washington and I am a Middle School Special Education Teacher at DCI. One of the driving forces that continues to motivate me to teach all students, is being able to communicate and share the critical significance of language acquisition in their courses. At the core of differentiating instruction, I believe is one’s heart. A quote from Nelson Mandela is a source of inspiration that summarizes a piece of my pedagogy: “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart”. I hold a BA in Spanish from Ursinus College, and have over 11 years experience working as an educator across the disciplines of Spanish, English as a Second or Other Language, Math and Language Arts. My experience includes working in private, and public institutions here in Washington DC, Philadelphia, and overseas in Spain and China.
