I strive to create a space where students find joy in learning, are unafraid to push boundaries, and debate difficult issues with empathy. As a humanities teacher, I prepare students to navigate a world of myriad experiences, perspectives, and identities. My classroom is a space that supports student creativity, inquiry, and individuality.
I come to DCI by way of Michigan, Philadelphia, Chicago, Williamstown, Mass., and New York City. Before teaching at DCI, I taught social studies at an IB public school in Ypsilanti - just outside of Detroit. I am thrilled to be in the IB world, and I love being at schools that try to extend that curriculum to all! When not in the classroom or coaching some club, I can usually be found in the kitchen or on my bike. I have applied to Chopped more than once (to no avail…) My favorite books from the last year are Circe and Mexican Gothic.
