Growing up in both the Dominican Republic and the United States, I have always loved learning more about different cultures. It is my love for learning that led me to urban education and my interest in language immersion that brought me to DCI three years ago. I developed my passion for DCI's mission as a student at the University of Maryland, where I had the opportunity to truly learn about educational equity and student agency. An alum of both University of Maryland (B.A. Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture) and George Washington University (M.A. Educational Leadership and Administration), I have been an elementary literacy teacher, middle grades spanish language teacher and now a high school level physical and health educator. I truly believe all children can and will learn and live in Maryland with my wife, a D.C. public school teacher, and our son. When I am not teaching, you can find me taking my son to the park, watching football, coaching or playing baseball and basketball, and engaging with families and students from DCI! I am looking forward to helping each student meet their personal health goals and for another undefeated season this year!
