My dad would not pay for college unless I got a science degree, so in addition to my philosophy major and history minor I got a degree in chemistry from William and Mary. While there, I played ultimate frisbee and badminton, lived in the international students dorm. As my dad correctly predicted, the chemistry degree got me a job as a school science teacher. In addition to teaching I organized an ultimate frisbee team and took kids on long summer bicycle tours, like from Montana to the Grand Canyon. I have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, got a Master's Degree from UVA, performed as a stage dancer at the 9:30 club, and been a guidance counselor in Mozambique. I am looking forward to adding physics to the list of subjects I have taught so far: biology, math, chemistry, PE, and history. I plan to bike in from Arlington where I live with my wife, 2 cats, and our son.
