Director of Language Learning
I am excited to begin my third full year at DCI! Before DCI, I spent many years leading elementary dual language schools, so I am proud to be a part of a community where we extend that focus on languages and culture to middle and high school. I am passionate about contributing to a school with such a bold mission and high standards for our wonderfully diverse student body. I began my teaching career working in international schools in Madrid, Spain. I have also taught in New York, Northern Virginia and DC and directed youth programs for several community organizations. Through New Leaders for New Schools, I served as resident principal at one of DCI’s feeder schools, Elsie Whitlow Stokes PCS. From there I served for six years at another DCI feeder, DC Bilingual PCS, including as Founding Principal, and then was the Principal of Bancroft Elementary School, a DCPS dual language school. I am fluent in Spanish, can sometimes get by in French, and am determined to learn some Chinese. I have an M.S.A. in Educational Administration from Trinity University, an M.A. in Elementary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a B.A. in History from Yale University. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children who I am proud to say are both in middle school at DCI and have thrived in bilingual learning environments their entire lives.
