I am beyond ecstatic to be joining DC International School this upcoming academic year! I am originally from Manila, Philippines and have moved to New York City at a young age. Embracing the diverse cultures that the city has to offer, I became fascinated with history. I spent my college years studying history with an expertise in American history and Cultural Anthropology. In 2011, I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in History from The City University of New York - Herbert H. Lehman College. A year after, I enrolled myself to grads school attending The City University of New York - Queens College to further advance my degree by obtaining a Post-Baccalaureate Advanced New York State Certification for Secondary Education in Social Studies/History. Since then, I have been teaching in NYC urban-environment particularly high school level developing and implementing the most current innovative approaches in Social Studies teachings. In the classroom, I often use technology integration across the curriculum to apply the IB skill-set approach to increase students’ literacy, analytical and critical thinking skills. Outside of school, I enjoy attending live concerts, visiting historical places, and getting to do my favorite outdoor sports - biking and surfing!
