Athletics Eligibility

The PCSAA follows the eligibility requirements set forth by the DCSAA. The PCSAA manages the official sports leagues of the D.C. Public Charter Schools while the DCSAA oversees DCPCS, DCPS, and independent schools. 

High School Eligibility Requirements:

  • Complete all participation forms prior to tryouts. All forms can be found on DragonFly Max, our new system for collecting participation forms. Parents/guardians will need to create an account for their student-athlete(s) and then complete the required participation forms below:
  • All participation forms need to be completed once per school year. However, the D.C. Health Certificate form must be completed within the previous calendar year (365 days).
  • Average a minimum of 3 on the IB Scale in the grading period prior to the sports season they wish to compete
  • Age 18 or younger on August 1 of the relevant school year
  • Been continuously enrolled at the school for at least one calendar year (students are exempt during their first year after middle school)
  • Have completed less than 8 semesters in high school
  • Have accrued no more than 6 unexcused absences in the current academic term
  • Be present in school on the day of an athletic activity to participate on that day

Middle School Eligibility Requirements:

  • Complete all participation forms prior to tryouts, located above
  • Average a minimum of 3 on the IB Scale in the grading period prior to the sports season they wish to compete
  • Enrolled in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade
  • Students enrolled in 5th grade are eligible for PCSAA middle school athletics only if 5th grade is recognized as a middle school grade by that member school
  • A student-athlete who is the age of 15 on or before August 1, is not eligible for middle school athletics
