History Teacher

I am extremely excited this year to be working at DCI this year as the 9th grade US History and Government teacher. I am originally from New Hampshire. I attended Kalamazoo College for my undergraduate degree. I completed a dual major in Political Science and Spanish and a minor in East Asian Religions. I moved to D.C. following my undergraduate studies and have worked in a parochial school, DC Public Schools and most recently spent five years at a charter school. I completed my Masters in Education at American University with a specialty in curriculum design and administrative leadership. In the classroom, I love to focus on conversational learning, implementing technology and novel based studies of historical topics. I am really looking forward to an to being a part of DCI as it continues to grow into a high school. Outside of the classroom, I love to cook and explore the outdoors. Travel abroad has been a very meaningful part of my life and spent almost two years living in Spain. My Spanish maybe a little rusty, but I’m looking forward to the opportunity to practice at DCI.
