Special Education Teacher

I am so thrilled to be at DCI this year! After working as a learning support teacher during DCI’s inaugural year, I left to complete a year long west coast adventure as a Special Education director at a school in Oakland, California. Before that, I was born and raised on the east coast in Massachusetts, where I completed a BA in Education and in Psychology. While working in Boston, I visited my sister in DC where I went to the National Zoo and fell in love with the pandas (and the rest of the city), so I decided to come teach here! I completed my Master’s degree in Special Education and made a switch from elementary to secondary education, which I have grown to really love. My passions in the field of education revolve around building self-advocacy skills in students from every background, and empowering students to know and embrace their strengths, challenges, and unique learning styles. I think all of these goals are best accomplished by developing meaningful relationships with students and families. In my free time I love to cook, travel, and hang out with family and friends. I am incredibly excited to be back at DCI for another school year and beyond!
