Mathematics Teacher

I love math! And, if I do say so myself, my obsession with math is a bit contagious! How many digits of pi do you have memorized? I am so excited to join DCI this year. I have taught 6th grade math in DC public schools for 11 years. I have also worked in education policy. I strongly believe that as much as I’m a math teacher, I’m also a teacher of manners, perseverance, and kindness. I grew up in small town America in Massachusetts. I earned my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Pennsylvania and majored in Urban Studies and minored in Anthropology. After joining Teach for America from 2001-2003, I then earned my Master of Arts in Teaching from American University. I am proficient in Spanish and can’t wait to learn more! In addition to math, I also love: reading, yoga, knitting, baking, the great outdoors, all fruit, my cat Isosceles (Saucy), and travel. Some of my most memorable trips were to: Turkey, Peru, South Africa, and Poland. A goal I have is to learn to play the violin!
