I have a B.A. in Psychology from UCLA and a B.S. degree and teaching credential in Physical Education from CSUN. I have been a Teacher, Coach, Research Faculty and Administrator for over 25 years serving in K-12 schools and Universities in California, Virginia, Georgia and most recently in Lima, Peru. For the last 10 years I have been teaching, coaching and an Athletic Director at IB World Schools (Atlanta International and Colegio Roosevelt). In addition to Physical Education I have taught Computer and Lego Robotics. I have coached baseball, basketball and field events in track; however, the majority of my coaching career has been focused on volleyball. I started out as a player competing in amateur and professional volleyball tournaments throughout the United States and then transitioned to the sidelines coaching at the Club and High School level. From there I moved on to coach collegiately at The University of Mary Washington and also served as a scout for the USA Men’s Olympic Team at the London 2012 Olympics.
While working at the IB World Schools I received extensive training and experience in the PYP and MYP and also supervised personal projects, CAS groups, class trips and coached in international tournaments. I love being part of an IB school filled with energy and enthusiasm about learning and teaching through inquiry and discovery. There is a unique feeling in the hallways and out on the playing fields that demonstrates itself through students and staff who are knowledgeable, caring, multilingual, and aware both culturally and environmentally.
I am fluent in English and conversational in Spanish. I want to continue improving my Spanish proficiency and also begin to study Chinese.
I am excited to be part of a community of learning where I strongly identify with the mission, vision and values coupled with the potential for the school to be a leading model of International excellence.
