Director of Language Learning
After spending the last part of my career leading elementary Spanish immersion schools, I am excited to be a member of the DCI community as we extend such valuable learning experiences to middle and high school students. I am passionate about contributing to a school with such a bold mission and high standards for our wonderfully diverse student body. I began my teaching career working in international schools in Madrid, Spain. I have also taught in New York, Northern Virginia and DC and directed youth programs for several community organizations. Through New Leaders for New Schools, I served as resident principal at one of DCI’s feeder schools, Elsie Whitlow Stokes PCS. From there I served for six years at another DCI feeder, DC Bilingual PCS, as Founding Principal and in other leadership capacities. Most recently, I was the Principal of Bancroft Elementary School. I am fluent in Spanish, can sometimes get by in French, and am determined to learn some Chinese. I have an M.S.A. in Educational Administration from Trinity University, an M.A. in Elementary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a B.A. in History from Yale University. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children –a DCI and a Mundo Verde student– who have thrived in bilingual learning environments their entire lives.
